Moving on though, I'm sure you all want some baby goss, oh sorry... 'toddler'. I'm really working on calling him a little boy rather than my little bubba. I get a little pang of anxiety each time I realise this. However, his 'toddler-dom' brings us much joy. He has successfully grown all 4 of his 1 year old molars.
He is interested in using the toiler and his step up in the bathroom to wash him hands. He wants to sit on the dining chairs with us at the dinner table, rather than in his high chair. He plays with playdoh, cuts out shapes with the cutters and rolls the rolling pin (this one blows my mind).
He says:
- hello (to everyone, a thousand times)
- alright
- Raph
- good
- okay
- done (like finished)
- up
- grandad
- nana
- mum and dad (of course)
- go (especially when he's had enough of visiting or he's ready for bed)
He responds to:
- 'give me kisses' (brace yourself for one of these)
- 'give me cuddles'
- 'night night'
- thumbs up
- high 5
- clap
- wash hands
- have a drink
- where's raph
- help us put it away (he'll walk with us to put his toys away, and he actually puts them in his boxes)
- 'wave bye'
- 'mummy / daddy has to go now, say bye' (he kisses and waves or nods)
He really loves our new house, he has space on the balcony for his wadding pool and to push his cars up and down. As well as a lot for space in his room because his cupboard isn't being used for storage, so his toys can be packed away in them and he can just have a few out at a time.
He's down to 2 feeds a day - I love this routine. First thing in the morning I get him out of bed and we lay down on the couch together and have a good 20minutes cuddle/feed session. Then we repeat it all at 5pm, it's a lovely re-bonding time after being away from him for so long during the day. He has replaced all his other feeds with rice milk and is happy to have this at child care and one just before bed. He walks himself to bed now, waits for us to put his night light on and hand him his water bottle that he has with him through the night. He has a really quick walk/bounce/pat/cuddle and then he motions for us to put him down. He grabs him water bottle, gives it a few sucks them rolls over onto his tummy and watches us walk out. Don't get me wrong, there are the odd times where this is not a smooth but 80% of the time, he's a dream!
