Are we there yet?

My goodness, our family is ready for a holiday! Will we be getting one very soon and hopefully our destination is less windy then home because our poor little noses cannot handle any more hayfever! Noah's teeth are making moves to the left, right and round and round but no new ones have come through his gums yet. It's a race between the 2 top middle teeth and the bottom ones either side of the middle.

We have been going down to support the school children while they verse other school from the region in the  sporting festival this week and helping in the canteen - Noah enjoys being very social and loves grabbing at people's hot chips and their change as I pass it to them. Noah is finding joy in the unusual and often times his favourite things to play with are tissues boxes, labels or plastic bottles filled with rice.

I am slowly getting my head around our chosen approach to introducing solids, 'baby led weaning'. This basically means that we skip the purée and rice cereal stage and move straight to offering Noah the same foods we are eating. Obviously we have to modify the shapes of the food so he can grasp it but mostly as long as we're eating a balanced diet, so will he. I tried a recipe this week that I made up in my head, essentially they were veggie, rice and cheese patties. He really enjoyed the texture of them when he squeezed it between his fingers and I don't think he disliked the taste (of the few little bits that accidentally got swallowed).
This will be my last post until we return from our holiday. I know we'll have lots of exciting photos to share with you once we arrive back home.

Andrew was at work during the time I had to cook dinner so Noah had to give himself his bottle while he was in his bouncer. How clever is he!?!

They have a special bond already, Raph is so patient and Noah smiles every time he comes near

Daddy's little boy

We haven't really been up to anything that special lately but Noah and Andy have spent some very good quality time together. Noah goes outside with Andy to play with the RC car now and according to Andy, he absolutely loves watching it zoom past. He waves his arms and squeals each time it comes close. We've also moved the DVDs out of the lounge room and dismantled the glass bookshelves they were on. In other words, we are 'baby proofing'. We've ordered a playpen and will be purchasing many draw and door catches while we're on our holiday.
Upside down, upside down

Father's Day Weekend

Friday:
We went over to the school in the afternoon to buy Daddy and few things from the Father's Day stall because his fishing rod and reel won't be here in time for Sunday.

Saturday:
Noah was invited to his first birthday party for a little girl in town so we went down for morning tea and a play with all the kids at the park. It was a great morning, when we got home Noah was so tired he went straight to sleep.
All dressed up for the party

This is how we found him playing after his sleep

Sunday:
IT'S FATHER'S DAY!!! Noah and Mum got up early and organised a present hunt for Daddy. Noah got ready to be Dad's little helper for the present hunt and then we went and gave Dad big hugs and his clues. After that we got on the internet and ordered Daddy's fishing reel and then Noah had a big sleep while Dad had his special breakfast. We had a great time playing all day inside (out of the horrible 36 degree heat). We made sushi for dinner and ate that while Noah played in his highchair. It was a very lovely day. It's so lovely to spend the whole day just "being" with family.
Noah had a special place to hold Daddy's clues

Here's your clues Dad Dad

The 2 boys managed to find all the presents!
